Biodynamic Farming
The
idea that the farm should be thought of as a living organism that must be
cared for as a whole and be in balance with nature.
To this end, we at DanaRay practice
the following:
* The use of
compost and compost teas as fertilizers that are produced on our farm.
* The use of
passive forms of pest control such as floating row covers and beneficial
insects to control insects pests.
* The use of mulch
and hand weeding to control weeks.
* The use of
nature's cues to assist in the planting of crops.
* The use of cover
crops to control weeds and improved fertility.
* All livestock
raised with access to sunshine and pasture without the use of artificial
growth hormones or antibiotics.
Biodynamic Farming was the first of the natural farming methods and is more
strict in many ways than other forms of natural farming.
